October 14
  • X-tra Math
  • Minute 17
  • Science: If you haven't brought your parent letter home yet please do so.

October 13
  • Math: X-tra Math on-line. 3-5 minutes is all it takes
  • Complete Minute 16 due on Wednesday.

  • Science: Bring the parent letter home for you parents to sign if they allow you to participate in the Lawrence Hall Science Study. There are 5 other science classes in the building who are participating in the study.
  • Mod 7: Please complete the thank you notes. You have an email with the details.

CLASS WORK
Oct 16
Today in science: We did our hands-on activity with heating and cooling molecules.
Thermal Energy
Energy
In Math: We continued working on double number lines. Finishing Lesson 11 and working on reinforcement activities.

Oct 15
Today in science: We are preparing for our hands-on activity using phase changing materials in preparation for our incubator design ideas.
In Math: We started using double number lines as another way to solve ratio problems.

Science: Complete the worksheet using these videos.
Video 1 kinetic vs. Potential
Video 2 Phase Change

Oct 14
  • Science: We completed a project criteria summary activity in preparation of our incubator engineering task. Students got logged in to the futurama website and some even got a chance to explore the online simulator. Here is the link to the on-line website.
  • Math: We did several problems that involved comparing ratios using ratio tables. Students had to deliberate over what the ratio was presenting. Here is the link we used as a warm-up today.

Oct 13
  • Science: We began a pilot on a web based science unit from Lawrence Hall in California. It is a phase change engineering unit.
  • incubator.jpgInterns (a.k.a. middle school students) will be designing an incubator to keep babies with low birth weight healthy. We will be exploring how phase changes occur and how to graph phase changes. Please look for a letter at home from your "intern" with more details.
